WR NEEDS YOUR HELP

You may have noticed that we are operating the old repeater again. The problem that we had with the yaesu repeater has now been fixed at a cost £450.Our thanks goes to Paul G4SUH for paying for the repair.

The repeater locked up due to an issue with the auto mode select that was brought on by misuse of the repeater. So we will not be reinstalling the repeater until we have safe gaurds aganst it happening again.

The solution is to install a third party repeater controller/logic that will take over from the very basic logic in the repeater. This will actually solve a lot of issues. Not only will it stop the repeater from locking up.it will give a propper hang time, courtesy tones between overs, controled time out timer, audio repeater ID,the use of the audio ID from the old repeater keeper and better control of the repeater when switching modes. In esence it will act as a repeater should!!

By installing this,it will then mean that from the user's piont of view the audio will be much better as well as having a more sensitive receive, which means better coverage especially for mobiles and those of you in poor reception areas.

..............however we need your help to make this happen.........

WE NEED TO RAISE ABOUT £400.

That will cover the cost to buy an interface and a new controller plus P+P from the USA.

Please help us with whatever you can by donating through the website ,facebook or emailing us.Please then email us marking your email as EQUIPMENT and letting us know who you are and the amount donated.

The Old Philip's repeater will not last for ever. And the old controller/logic that is being used on it plays up and shuts down, you may remember the ID going at double speed last year as well. It's given a lot of service over the past twenty years and needs a rest!!!

Please help keep WR alive and safe for the future .

If you would like to have a look at the equipment

The stand by phillips repeater is on for a few weeks while the yaesu repeater is off for repair with yaesu. It locked up last night in TX and wouldn't reset.
So its single mode FM only for a few weeks untill it can be fixed.

GB3WR OFF AIR

6/3/2016

Due to some particularly nasty  abuse on the repeater it has been turned off,.....plus to further the length of the shutdown we have been notified of a long power cut to the site due to scheduled power supply works.

We will restore the repeater as soon as the site owners contacts us to say that the power is back on.

We do have a battery back up supply at site, but the power cut is too long for the battery to hold the repeater up.So as not to damage the battery it was decided to power down the repeater.

Cheers folks
The team at WR.
